Got these for my husband that doesn't wear dress shoes but needed them for a wedding, I was in a hurry and ordered without reading reviews. Ones I had time I sat down to review what I had gotten and was disappointed to see the reviews all said they were a full size to larg! I ordered a size 12, and was very worried they would be huge on him and we didn't have time to re order... I was also worried that the smell was really gonna be awful.They arived the day before we excited and to my surprise they fit him perfectly! His foot it quite wide and that may play into it, but he had no issues what so ever with it feeling to large and even mentioned that they were more comfortable than he expected. And I could smell the plastic smell but I think unless you are really sensitive to smells it probably wouldn't bug you, I couldn't smell it when I stood next to him or anything only when he had just taken the shoe off or if I stuck my nose right close to it, but it has since faded a lot and even now if I smell them they really are not as terrible as I expected.For us this shoe was great for its purpose, he wont wear them much and hes not use to fancy dress shoes so it was a great buy in our book. As far as wear and tear, he wore them one full day and has no scratches on them.First off, this shoe is pretty nice for the price point. It looks amazing and has become one of my favorite pairs of dress shoes. But, I'm giving this a 4star because the shoe does has a strong stench to it when you first get it. But leaving it to air out over time will rid it of the smell. This shoe does run large so I would get a full size down from what you normally wear. Maybe even 1.5 sizes down. Me being stubborn, I didn't listen to the other reviews when they said that the shoes ran large. I normally wear a size 9.5. I bought a size 9 and it literally feels like a size 10 on me. In terms of the width of the shoe it fits nicely on me but there is way too much room in front of my toes simply because I didn't get more sizes down. Overall this shoe looks amazing and the cost is pretty low. So what are you waiting for!? Buy this!This shoe looks so nice, I definitely dress to impress wearing it! I knew this shoe was rated very highly, but I was very uncertain about which size to order. I saw some people state to order 1 full size smaller, while others stated "order 1.5 sizes smaller". Hesitant, I ordered 1 size smaller than my normal shoe size, 10.5 (which is for both dress shoes and tennis shoes). I ordered 9.5, and found it TOO LARGE by about half an inch, so I have returned these and am about to receive the new size 9 shoes. Should be perfect! Just order small!As some comparison, I have shown the color as accurately as I can, as well as shown the length of this shoe (size 9.5) compared to my normal 10.5 Nike tennis shoes and my 10.5 dress shoes (hint, they're almost the same! Order smaller!) My thumb also marks where my size 10.5 foot reaches in the 9.5 shoe, just about .5 from the ideal spot.I would still highly recommend this shoe, and I will likely buy other shoes from this company soon! Just glad for fast Prime shipping and easy returns with this company!I RECOMMEND BUYING A WHOLE SIZE AND HALF SMALLER. I wear a 9.5 normally, so I bought a 9 after reading some reviews saying buy a size smaller. Then AFTER I made my order I saw a review recommending just what I said, a whole size and a half smaller, so I messaged the company through amazon requesting they change the size to an 8. It felt wrong to order an 8 but I decided to risk it and it did pay off. An 8 fits just right when my normal shoe size is 9.5. They talk about the smell being bad but its not overwhelming like they make it sound. there definitely is a smell though, that will go away after a while of airing them out. OVERALL: They are nice looking shoes and I get a compliment every time I wear them.I bought a brown and black pair. Listen to the comments and ORDER A FULL SIZE SMALLER. I wear a 9.5 and ordered 8.5's and they fit exactly like i'd expect a 9.5 to fit. They arent going to feel like a padded comfy running shoe but there isnt any discomfort or pain when wearing them. While for the price and the good look of the shoe, I want to give it 5 stars, I just can't. The rubbery smell they have out of the box is potent. I'm sure with time it'll fade. I'll come back for an update once I've put some miles on them if there's any issue.For this price, you can't go wrong. They are exactly as they look in the picture and the description. There are only two complaints... My husband does have to order them one size smaller than he normally wears. He's normally a 10.5 and he orders a size 9 and they fit perfect. Also, they do only last for so long. He only wears them to work and the soles seem to wear out quicker than other shoes he's had in the past. But for the price, they last at least a year so I feel that's worth it! He gets many compliments and although the soles wear over time, the rest of the shoe holds very well and after a year they still look nice. Shipping was quick and they come packaged really nicely. We will continue to purchase these!I am usually a wide 10.5. I read the reviews and tried to gauge exactly the correct fit, and bought a 9 based on some others saying to purchase a size and a half down because these shoes are usually too large. I think that might be for non-wide individuals. When I received them, I had to return them and got a size 9.5, which fits perfectly. My recommendation to any other wide-foot 10.5 customers is to get exactly 1 size down. The material is not actual leather, and I can tell that a crease will form at the arch after use, but I am not too worried about that since usual Oxford's are quite expensive. I'm satisfied with this purchase.A lot of people posted about the chemical smell. However, I got 90% of the smell just in 3 days.Here is how: Day 1- Lightly Febreze inside then put Bounty (~2 pieces per shoes) and silicon gel that came with the shoes. Day 2- Put Cedar Shoe tree and neglect Day 3- Same with Day 2To get accelerated results, please put the shoe outside (of course, no direct sunlight) where it gets some wind.Smell is gone. Now I just have to see how it holds up.
